Process of providing pension to journalists has been expedited: Chief Minister

The state government will provide pension to journalists like other states. The process in this regard has been expedited. The government has taken up this work with a positive attitude. If this is implemented, many journalists will benefit, said Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.

We were raising this issue when we were in the opposition. Now, after coming to power, we will implement what we were demanding, the Chief Minister said. At the At Home event organized at Raj Bhavan on the occasion of Independence Day, All Odisha Media Association President Sanjiv Kumar Patnaik, Advisor Ravipriya Dash and Vice President Saroj Ranjan Patnaik asked the Chief Minister about the government’s initiative to provide pension to journalists. The Chief Minister said that the work in this regard has been expedited and said that we raised this demand, we will implement it ourselves.

It is worth noting that various press associations in the state are demanding the Chief Minister to provide pension to journalists. State-level press associations as well as district-level journalists have been sending memorandums to the Chief Minister through the Director of Information and Public Relations and the District Magistrate.
