The deceased Lijarani Sahu married Ranjan Kumar Sahu of Barhampur village in May 2025, but the father of the deceased has alleged that she was tortured after marriage. On New Year’s Day, the deceased’s father met him to report that his daughter had caught fire. He was first admitted to Bhadrak and then to Cuttack Medical College. But after a long treatment, he died. After the death, the body was taken to Bhadrak Medical College and a complaint was filed at Agarpada police station that the girl was set on fire and killed.
