Corrupt auditor caught in vigilance net! Rs 28 lakh cash found from home. Education department auditor caught in vigilance net for taking bribe. An auditor of the office of the Regional Education Director, Bhubaneswar has been arrested by the Odisha Vigilance. He was caught while taking bribe to get an employee’s ‘service verification’ required to get an increase in salary under the MACP scheme. After the arrest, his place was raided and more than Rs 28.70 lakh in cash was seized and the vigilance seized that money. After this, the vigilance team simultaneously checked his office and residence. The vigilance seized another Rs 1,28,000 from his office drawer. It is suspected that this is a bribe collected earlier. The bribe money has been seized from Ambika Prasad Rath. Later, a simultaneous search was launched at her residential building and her office room in Madhusudan Nagar, Bhubaneswar. During the search, another Rs 27,42,900 was seized from her residential building and Rs 1,28,000 in cash from her office table drawer. The total cash seized is Rs 28,70,900. The accused Ambika Prasad Rath has been produced in court. In this regard, Case No. 4 under the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered at the Bhubaneswar Vigilance Station and investigation is underway. Ambika Prasad Rath started her government job as an auditor in the office of the Regional Director of Education, Bhubaneswar in 2000. Her initial salary was Rs 6,000. He has been working in the said office as an auditor for more than 25 years.
